Device for grouping objects, especially packages (12), comprises a transporting unit (1) having a discharge site (26) for discarding the objects to a grouping unit (3) having a drive (20) for moving the grouping unit, preferably away from the discharge site. The grouping unit can be moved so that the objects subsequently reach the grouping unit to form a group of objects. A control unit (14) is connected to the drive to further move the objects along a horizontal extension (sx).
