Production of ceramic or powder metallurgical molding, e.g. compact or porous molding for microreactor, membrane, catalyst support, bone substitute, complex tool or machine part, uses ice mold, powder suspension and freeze drying
In making ceramic and/or powder metallurgical moldings (A), the mold(s) (B) consists (partly) of ice and inside and/or outside surface corresponds to negative of (A). (B) is coated/filled with same or different ceramic/powder metallurgical suspension(s) (C) whilst its surface is not less than 1 K below melting/sublimation temperature of the frozen liquid/gas and above or below temperature of (C). During and/or after this, (C) is dried, followed by sublimation or freeze drying. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) ceramic and/or powder metallurgical moldings (D) made by this process; (2) moldings (E) consisting partly of ice and partly of frozen (C).
