A pressure relief device for use on a pressure bearing system of a power plant, in particular a nuclear power plant, has two in a valve housing (1) arranged, parallel main valve inserts (33, 34) and two each for actuating a main valve insert (33, 34) provided control valves (38, 39, 40, 41). The functionality of the pressure relief device is given both in a single fault of a main valve insert (33, 34) and in a single error of a control valve (38, 39, 40, 41).
