Thermally sprayed cylinder liner is made from an iron-based alloy containing dispersed friction- and wear-reducing particles made from a metal alloy of two of the following elements: aluminum, copper, zinc, tin and molybdenum. An independent claim is also included for electric arc spraying process for depositing a friction-reducing layer onto a metal substrate.
