Light metal alloy useful for producing crankshafts in reciprocating engine, preferably internal combustion engines comprises silicon, zinc, magnesium, copper, further alloy components, and remaining aluminum and conventional impurities
Light metal alloy comprises (in wt.%): silicon (10-20); zinc (5-9); magnesium (2-6); copper (0.2-0.6); further alloy components (0-3.8); and remaining aluminum and conventional impurities. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the use of the light metal alloy; and (2) producing crankshaft of reciprocating engine, preferably internal combustion engine, comprising spray compacting a blank made of light metal alloy, extrusion molding of the blank into a semi-finished product and drop forging of the semi-finished product into a forged part in the form of the crankshaft.
