A cosmetic and/or dermatological oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion characterized by a viscosity below 300 mPas comprises a combination of a 3-component emulsifier system with components at set weight ratios and a lipid phase formed from lipids of polarity (surface tension to water) =20 mN/m. A cosmetic and/or dermatological O/W emulsion characterized by a viscosity below 300 mPas comprises an emulsifier system containing: (a) polyethyleneglycol ester(s) formed from 12-20C chain-length fatty acids and polyethyleneglycols with, on average, 30-40 glycol units; (b) mono- or di-ester(s) from glycerol and 16-20C chain-length fatty acids and (c) 12- 24C chain-length fatty acid(s) at (a) : (b) : (c) weight ratio 2 : 5 : 1 - 5 : 2 : 1; and a lipid phase formed from lipids of polarity (surface tension to water) =20 mN/m.
