The method involves separating the material web (3) along at least one single continuous separation line (7) and transferring it to the winding core (6) through an air stream which is formed by means of a device for guiding the material web such as a guide plate (13). Independent claim describes winding machine for transferring material web wherein at least one guide device such as a guide plate is mounted in front of the winding roller to guide the air stream. A nozzle assembly (11,12) for generating the air stream is arranged between the winding roller and guide plate.
