The weak methane-containing gas flows in a natural flow direction through a process heat carrier (oxidation body) whereby combustion is initiated through the process heat. The combustion process can be controlled through the controlled air supply and regulated through the residual oxygen content measurement in the waste gas. The amount of residual oxygen measured in the waste gas provides the regulating parameter for the supply of fresh air.
