The ear plug (10) is made of a soft elastic material and has a cylindrical section (11), with a diameter of between 4 and 7 mm, fitted into the auditory canal (21) so that is a loose fit, for receiving the narrow end of the hearing aid (15) and a dished or funnel-shaped second section (12), fitting around the outside of the auditory canal. An independent claim for an in-ear hearing aid with a univeral ear plug is also included.
