The production line has a broad conveyer belt (1) carrying car bodies (2). Each body passes through a painting station (3) for coating with lacquer and is moved onward to an end station (4). Each body is accommodated in a cell with pockets (12) for door components (21) behind each body, and shelves for equipment (11) in front of each body. Industrial robots (13,14) beside the line unload the doors from the pockets and install them in the door openings of each body.
