A process for producing a plastic component (2) with at least one hollow chamber (8), comprises feeding at least two polymer lines (18,20) containing different polymers, through a profiling tool (16). The lines are separated from each other, and are joined along seams (26,26') to form a tube. The tube blank (28) is formed into the required plastic component by applying an inner pressure and/or an outer vacuum in a moulding tool. A fibre material is pressed into the blank in the tool. The plastic component formed has at least two cover layers. One of the polymers is polypropylene or polyethylene.
