The method involves prior measurement (10) of the current-induced temperature of the electrical line and of the bus bar over a defined temperature range to determine a functional relationship (20) and one or more correction parameters, measuring (30) the actual bus bar temperature during operation of the electrical line and using the functional relationship to determine the current-induced line temperature. An independent claim is also included for overload protection.
