The vibration damper has a housing (1) with two working cavities (14, 15) filled with fluid, out of which a sealed piston rod (8) projects. The piston rod has a valve (10) fitted to it. The valve has integrated electromagnets (20) round a control cavity (21), by which the control slide (22) can be moved, as can the valve itself.
