The method involves measuring the energy of sound waves reflected back by a reflective surface of a coupler towards a radiation surface of an electro-acoustic transducer (1). The energy of reflected waves is compared with preset reference values of radiated energy to attain an evaluation signal that is fed to body of a patient. The signal indicates sufficient/insufficient sound transfer function of a sound lead section. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for checking a transfer function of a sound lead section in an electro-acoustic therapeutic instrument.
