In a medical or vetinary process to diagnose renal illness an analysis is made the presence of specific combinations of urea proteins whose presence is characteristic and indicative of the presence or absence of defects in particular parts of the kidney. The sample incorporates marker proteins formed in the proximal or distal tubulus, and excised or absorbed by a filtrate. The marker proteins may have an iso-form. An independent claim is also included for a commensurate diagnostic kit to demonstrate the presence of peptides and/or proteins in biological samples.
