Process for preparation of a layer on a complex profile component (3) by chemical gas phase deposition (CVD) of a layer medium (9) of organometallic and/or metal-halogen compounds and an inert or reactive carrier gas onto the component heated to 300-1,100[deg]C. The coating medium streams through a gas channel (1), in a body (4) profiled to the component surface (2), with the component temperature below the component surface deposition temperature. An independent claim is included for a coating device for deposition on a complex profile component as described above.
