The tire preform is assembled from conventional unvulcanized strip components. The ends of at least one strip component(1) are placed on a flat surface and spliced together to form a ring. The ring is then pushed onto a tire building drum(4) and combined with the remaining tire components to produce a complete tire preform for vulcanization.
