The system has a planetary gear (6) between steering wheel and steering gear, and an auxiliary drive (7) engaging on it, to superpose a steering angle over a driver-selected steering angle. The planetary gear is blocked between steering wheel-sided input and steering gear-sided output, by a blocking device, so that the planetary gear transmits a steering momentum as a rigid unit. When in blocked position, a momentum to support the steering is introduced by the auxiliary drive via the planetary gear. The planetary gear has an input and an output-sided gear (10,11), coupled via a planet stage (12) on a planet carrier (16). The auxiliary drive engages on the carrier, and the blocking unit fixes at least one of the gears (10,11,13,14) relative to the carrier. The blocking unit is open when currentless.
