Process for increasing the conveying capacity of oil or gas sources comprises introducing at least two mixtures containing components which react together to produce heat to the oil or gas source. One mixture contains a water-selective component which hydrolyzes releasing hydrogen at elevated temperature and the other mixture contains a chloroalkane as a medium for separating the components. An independent claim is also included for mixtures used in the above process.
