It is a cutting device is provided for the cutting of sheet material. The cutting device comprises a bed for the support of the material in sheet form, and a hollow track structure, which has a distance of the bed, a cutting element, which along the hollow rails structure can be guided, by severing of the sheet material in a predetermined manner, a holding plate, which is coupled to the hollow track structure, for pressing down of the material in sheet form to the bed and performing the cutting process of the cutting element, as well as a support element, which is located in the hollow track structure. The support element presses against an upper inner surface of the hollow rails structure for lifting the holding plate and against a lower inner surface of the hollow rails structure for pressing down of the holding plate.
