In one embodiment, determining the order lead time for a supply chain includes generating variants of probability distributions for the expected order lead time, wherein each variant of the probability distributions for the expected order lead time is associated with a category. The supply chain has nodes including a start node and an end node, which provides to a customer, and determines a path from the start node to the end node. A variant of the probability distributions for the expected order lead time associated with the identified category is selected as a probability distribution for the expected order lead time for the supply chain. The probability distribution for the expected order lead time describes end node demand for the end node compared to the order lead time.
