Steering angle sensor for use on road vehicle to determine resultant torque applied to steering column uses two relatively rotatable shaft portions and has multi-pole magnet ring and stator holder
Steering angle sensor for use on road vehicle to determine resultant torque applied to steering column uses two relatively rotatable shaft portions and has multi-pole magnet ring and stator holder
The road vehicle steering column (10) is divided into first (12) and second (14) parts. They rotate with respect to each other with the movement controlled by a torsion spring. The first part of the shaft carries a multi-pole magnet ring (16). A screw ring (18) is fastened by three screws (20) to a stator holder (22). This supports a first stator element (24) with axially-extending fingers (26). The fingers may surround the magnet ring. A bearing ring (28) may surround the fingers and accommodates a stator holder (22). There is a second stator element (30) with axially extending fingers (32). There is a second magnet ring (36) moving under a magnet sensor on a plate (42) in a housing (48).
