The stabilizer sub-assembly (10) for a motor vehicle has a first (12) and a second (16) stabilizer which are rotatable relative to one another. A linear actuator (14,18) in the form of a hydraulic cylinder acts upon each stabilizer. The linear actuators have a crossover connection, and a control valve (54) can block the inflow and outflow of the two linear actuators so that both stabilizers are rigidly interconnected.
