The method involves storing electrical energy into a storage element and generating a high energy pulse and a magnetic force acting on the workpiece with subsequent discharging into the shaping circuit (2). During charging the shaping coil (7) is connected into the charging current circuit (27) via a charging current switch (5) and the electrical energy is stored in the shaping coil. An independent claim is also included for a device for electromagnetic shaping of workpieces.
