The damping device (1) for the damping of RPM irregularities of a rotating shaft has a rotor (3), with at least one section (11) consisting of a non-ferromagnetic electrical conductor material, and an exciter (4) for the sectional imparting to the rotor section of a magnetic flux. The rotor section at least in a region penetrated by the magnetic flux in the in-use position has at least one opening in which is installed a ferromagnetic flux conducting component (14).
