The actuator has several discretely adjustable differentials having a selector lever (10) and a controller (30) to control the transmission connection from an energetically stabilized zero-situation (FR) of selectable positions (A, N, R, +, -). The selection of the positions is made by a sensor (11-15), the values determined by the sensor and transferred and converted to the controller (20). By selection from the positions selected, different modes of operation can be selected and switched (A) and the transmission is provided in each case by unique selection of the switchable positions. An independent claim is included for a method for steering an automated transmission with an actuation equipment.
