The inlet air passage (1) for the ventilation of a room volume is attached to a surface and parallel to it, and has a longitudinally orientated inlet air duct (3) with one end into which flows air. A deflection element (5) is fitted on the end of the inlet air duct opposite the first end in such a way that the deflection element during use angles air flowing through the inlet air duct against a plate (6) with is attached to the second end of the inlet air passage and which diffuses parallel to the surface to which the inlet air passage is attached.
