The filler neck (10) for a container, especially a tank or oil reservoir of preferably motor vehicles, has a screw connection or bayonet connection end for a closure cap, and a flexible band for the captive connecting of the filler neck and closure cap. The band by means of a loop is laid around a section of the filler neck and axially retained on it. The filler neck on the outer circumferential side (21) has one or more radial protrusions (16,17) in each of two adjacent planes, whereby the retaining band is laid between the two planes.
