The puzzle cube is built up using three different types of modular pieces. Each piece has the same square cross-section and similar square-cut ends. The ends are divided into four equal-sized squares by cruciform grooves whose depth is half the side of the square cross-section. The length of the short modules is twice the side of the square, the length of the medium modules is three times the side of the square, and the length of the long modules is four times the side of the square. The modules are joined together in a particular order to form a chain which can be folded up to form the cube.
