The polishing machine contains an ultra-sound generator (2) which gives off energy directly on to the polishing surface (3) and thereby works the polishing material very finely. The energy presses through the polishing hub (5) and can during the process attract and remove fine dirt particles (6). For improved energy conduction the hub can take in the polishing material or be filled with gel. A gel cushion can be helpful particularly to conduct the ultrasound.
