The airbag (22) of the passenger restraint system has an asymmetric design, which corresponds to the curved shape of the windscreen. The asymmetric design enables an installation of the airbag (22) close to the windscreen, which gives more space for the design of the instrument panel (12). When the airbag (22) is inflated the windscreen supports it. From the passengers point of view the airbag (22) seems to inflate symmetrically, because the asymmetric design of the airbag (22) fits into the curved shape of the windscreen. The shape of the gas lance also corresponds to the curved shape of the windscreen.
