A clinical laboratory assembly has numerous cuvettes (4), a sample delivery pipette (10), a reagent delivery and mixing pipette (8, 9), a control unit (20) and an analytical system (19). The control unit (20) sub-divides the cuvettes into two groups (A, B) and excludes admixture of the wrong reagent to the respective cuvette and further excludes sample misidentification. The reaction cuvettes are assigned sequential off (A) and even (B) numbers. The cuvette employed for each sample is suitable only for that sample (A) and not for the other sample (B).
