The temperature indicator for a cooking pot consists of a button or label with one or more layers of thermochromic material (3). The thermochromic material is sandwiched between a transparent protective surface layer (4) and a thick carrier layer (1). There is an insulating layer (2) on the bottom of the carrier layer. The temperature indicator may have sectors giving different ranges of colors.
