The heat exchanger is positioned with one side facing a heat source and provided by a pipe (1) enclosing a number of flow channels (3a,3b,3c) through which a fluid is passed, each extending in a helical path around the longitudinal axis of the pipe. The flow channels are defined by helical ribs extending inwards from the wall (7) of the pipe, with intermediate ribs of lesser height projecting inwards from the pipe wall into each flow channel. An independent claim for a combustion device with a heat exchanger for transfer of heat from a heat source to a fluid is also included.
