A fresh air jet for the interior of a vehicle, e.g. for dashboard mounting, has three part linkage (7, 8, 9) with a control (7) mounted centrally on the outside of the jet, and with the other components controlling the setting of a butterfly valve (6) as well as the setting of the swivel mounted outlet grille (10). The operator, e.g. the driver, is able to set the flow rate as well as the direction of the air stream simply by gripping the control between finger and thumb and moving it axially and radially.
