The floor covering has means for the circulating of a liquid or gaseous medium and means (3,6) for heating it. The means for the circulating of the medium are constructed as a capillary system through which the liquid or gaseous medium can be pumped. The capillary system consists of a multi-core tubular spiral or as a capillary structure in meander form. The underside of the floor covering provides a nub-like surface structure which prevents slipping. A splashproof battery (6) is provided as the power source.
