A magnifying lens (ML) (1) and another lens (2) fit on an adjustable adapter (3) for fastening the ML on spectacles (4) or a spectacle frame so as to create magnifying glass spectacles or for fastening on another mounting device fastened on a user's head, e.g. on a head band. Between the two lenses there is an illuminating device (6,6a) on the adapter to supply an overall beam of light (7). An independent claim is also included for a magnifying lens with a support element.
