The container (10) for the storing of a liquid has a device (11,12) for the feed of one or more substances thixotroping the liquid. The device is designed so that on the basis of a signal from a signal transmitter it feeds the thixotroping substance in the container in such a way that the liquid is completely thixotroped inside the container at least in a closed outer layer not penetrable by a non-thixotroped residue of the liquid. The liquid in the container is a hazardous material which may be combustible and/or explosive.
