Improved adapter device for a memory card comprises a cartridge whose size is matched to that of a memory card which it is to receive and has a socket matched to the card profile. On the other end of the cartridge are terminals for connection to the memory card. Sloping sections are provided in the socket so that a card is gradually brought into contact with the contacts rather than being directly pressed against the contacts.
