The towing device (1) for a single or twin-engined light aircraft has the initial handling of the towing bar (14) kept constant and partially only through an additional compact and space saving DC drive unit (9) with favourable force ratio installed low between a coupling point (13) and a handle (3), extending in front of a drive axle, and creating sufficient ground adherence. The DC drive unit has two drive wheels fastened on a short drive axle and undertakes the towing of the aircraft (10).
