The strip-wound heat exchanger has several pipes which are wound in screw form around a core pipe in several layers of pipes. It has a casing which encases an external space around the pipes and a shell between the casing and the outermost layer of pipes. A sliding layer is fixed between the shell and the outermost layer of pipes. The sliding layer is made of a material with an especially low friction coeffiecient compared to the material of the pipes. It can be made of plastic or of "PTFE"(RTM).
