The wheel (10) is joined to the lower surface of the loading area with a u-shaped element (16). A braking unit (12) is accommodated in the space between the wheel (10) and the horizontal segment of the u-shaped element (16). Two brake shoes (28, 30) can be activated by an operating cable (36) against the forces of a helical spring (34) positioned between the outer segments of a u-shaped carriage (22) moving within a holding element (18). The motion of the brake shoes (28, 30) is limited by the heads of the screws (26a, 26b) used for joining the carriage (22) to the holding element (18) and sliding along longitudinal slots.
