A hand-held crutch for injured or disabled persons has a telescopic shank made of a series of tubular glass fibre rods and terminating in an anti-slip grip. The tubular sections are linked with each other by internal fittings. During production the inner faces of the glass fibre tubes are roughened by e.g. sand-blasting.
