The shell end milling tool (1) has a shaft (2) for fitting into the milling machine and a cutting section (3) to act on the workpiece surface. The cutting section lies within a theoretical cylinder, with a main cutting edge (5) at the circumference and at least one auxiliary cutting edge at the end with a given diameter (Dc). The auxiliary cutting edge has an end section on a projection of the tool axis with a convex curvature, with a radius of =Dc/2 and =800 mm. The center point of the convex curvature is at a gap of =Dc/2.
