The invention relates to a linear displacement guide comprising two guide bodies (2) that can be conducted along a guide axis relative to one another and guided in relation to one another by means of anti-friction bearings and a measuring system, with which measurements relating to the magnitude of the relative displacements can be determined using a material measure (6) that is attached to the guide body. The aim of the invention is to obviate the need for polishing, at least for high-gloss polishing. To achieve this, sub-sections of the surface of the guide body that is provided with sanded and/or milled grooves are subjected to thermal energy by means of a laser, said sub-sections of the guide body (2) that are subjected to the thermal energy having diffuse reflection surface characteristics, whereas the sub-sections that have not been subjected to the thermal energy have, in comparison, targeted reflective surface characteristics.
