Pointless round polishing machine for finishing work pieces

The round polishing machine has a grinding spindle and two slide carriages (8,11) which are moved on guides by drive means. The guides (13,14,15) for the two slide carriages are mounted on a common base (7). One of the slide carriages can span at least a part of the other like a tunnel. The lower slide carriage can be guided outside of a tunnel-like recess (18) of the upper slide carriage on a first guide path of the upper slide carriage.
