The dialysis unit removes toxic substances from biological fluids, and has a device for removing limescale from a dialysis fluid circuit. A device is provided by which, on observation of a predetermined degree of scale accumulation, the removal process proceeds automatically. Also claimed is the process for determining the degree of scaling.
