PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conducting a loop-transfer under good conditions without increasing any burden to knitted loops when performing the loop-transfer of from the upper auxiliary bed to the under needle bed. ;SOLUTION: This flat knitting machine comprises: a longitudinally disposed pair of the under needle beds for supporting a knitting needle 15a retractably movable within a groove in the upper surface wherein any one of the under needle beds is set movable in the right-and-left direction relative to the other one; and the upper auxiliary bed positioned over at least one of the under needle beds and supporting a loop-transferring member, e.g. knitting needle 15a or transfer jack 5, retractably movable within a groove in the under needle bed. The other objective method is conducted by moving the loop-transferring member in such a way as to transfer a knitted loop 91 engaged with the loop-transferring member toward the back side of the knitting needle 15a when the back side of the hock of the knitting needle 15a enters within the knitted loop 91 in the loop-transferring step and by moving the loop-transferring member in such a way as to move the knitted loop 91 engaged with the loop-transferring member toward the surface section of the hock when the surface section enters within the loop 91.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
