The sensor has an encoder formed by a magnetic ring (1) with alternate north and south poles. The encoder has a correction unit for compensating the value of a magnetic induction field created by an irregular pole to stabilize tangential magnetic signal delivered by a magnetoresistive measuring cell, by passing the signal from adjacent poles to the irregular pole. The unit is designed such that the signal varies monotonously.
