The device has a lever for changing gear rotating around an axis on a support. The support rotates around another axis on a frame carried by a vehicle. The frame is carried by the vehicle to activate a reversing lever (62) connected to the support and a bar (52) connected to the former lever. A retractable bolt (91) of reverse gear prohibits displacement of the lever (62) at rest till a line of reverse gear.
